The statements by Lars Windhorst (45) that he no longer wants to work with President Werner Gegenbauer (71) are causing a stir.
Ex-Hertha captain Axel Kruse (54) says in the RBB podcast “Hauptstadtderby”: “Gegenbauer has many critics, but with these statements he brought many critics to Gegenbauer’s side. Since when does the investor decide who is president or not? I find it shocking that the investor only works with one who is comfortable with him. If he doesn’t like it, a new one comes along. That is sick.”

And further: “Instead of being happy about the victory, this whistle sits down and pulls from the leather, destroying everything. He wants to get rid of Gegenbauer at the top as president and Ingo Schiller as chief financial officer. So he wants access to the money. With this performance, he exposed himself even more.”
Kruse is certain: “Most members would rather be relegated than hand the club over to Lars Windhorst.”
