On Milan-Napoli 1-2: “We played a game of great intensity, quality. Unfortunately the result was missing but the performance can only give us confidence. We missed a little something in the last 20-30 meters and we could have scored a goal especially in the first half but we are happy with the performance ”.
On Milan who often goes at a disadvantage: “True, even the coach told us. This year is more difficult because every team wants to beat us because we are champions of Italy. However, whether we lose 1-0 or 2-0 for us the game is never over and we play until the last moment ”.
On feeling favorites for the title: “Even last year nobody believed in us but we have always been aware of our quality and our team. Until the last three days, no one spoke of us as the team ready to win the Scudetto. In the last two years we have done a devastating job: we have lost very few games and we always play at a very very high level. Last year it bothered me that no one believed in us ”.
On the expectations of this season: “Since we have been Champions of Italy, things have changed but we still have more drive. The less they talk about us, the more we feel strong and ready to win the Scudetto ”.
On being an undervalued player in the media: “I feel a little undervalued, honestly. But these things happen in football because there are players who are considered more important in the locker room. Since I have been at Milan I have felt the trust of the club, of the coach, of the staff and also of my teammates. Surely if I score a few more goals or assists they would speak better than me ”.
On his own growth in the field: “I have to get more shots on goal because maybe last year I had very few chances: you can’t score if you don’t shoot on goal. But I was important for other things, that’s why the coach let me play the last few games because he had less chance of scoring but I could do the other things he asked me to do ”.
On the best newcomer to Serie A: “Ángel Di María for me is a great player who has played in very important teams in the world and he has raised the level of Serie A, like many other signings like the ones we have taken. Surely the championship will be even more interesting ”.
About his dream: “My main dream was to become a professional player at this level and play in Serie A and I have achieved it. Then playing in a team like Milan that means so much is another dream achieved as well as the Serie A title. Of course we play for the Scudetto: it doesn’t end there, I want to win as much as possible and do something more in the Champions League because we have a strong team and no one will be happy to face us “.
About Rafael Leao: “It was definitely crucial last year and it will be this year too. We showed that we can play without anyone and that our strength is the group: but with Rafa we are stronger ”.
