Open Glasner successor
Eintracht Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche has denied rumors that the Europa League winner has already chosen a successor for Oliver Glasner, who is leaving in the summer. “We didn’t bother with that at all. We had so many things this week where we had to set the course for Eintracht Frankfurt. That’s not an issue for us at the moment,” said Krösche on Saturday after the 3-0 win in the Bundesliga against FSV Mainz 05 on “Sky”. The collaboration with Glasner will end prematurely this summer despite the contract that runs until 2024.
Dino Toppmöller is the top candidate for the successor, and Feyenoord coach Arne Slot and Salzburg’s Matthias Jaissle are also being considered. Krösche did not want to comment on names. Captain Sebastian Rode said: “Of course you deal with it, but you can’t influence it, not even as a captain. There are other decision-makers there.” After the two remaining league games, Frankfurt also has the DFB Cup final against RB Leipzig on June 3rd. Glasner will then be on the sidelines for Eintracht for the last time. Against Mainz he was in a box because of a red suspension.
