This year, the red carpet of the castle’s celebrations will feature a recycling theme. Also a Member of Parliament Kristiina Salonen (sdp) surprises in the castle, because a sofa fabric can be seen on him.
The suit combines recycled velvet and printed fabric. The apartment was designed by Muotoiluhuone Tuokio Sanni Takkinen and sewn Vilma Mäkinen. The suit uses thick furniture velvet left over from the sofa production of a Finnish furniture factory.
The designer’s work was challenged by a leftover piece with a narrow design. Takkinen designed a print pattern on the velvet fabric, whose juju is in arc-like shapes.
The material of the lower part is printed cotton satin.

More responsible choices can be seen in the castle’s costumes. Congressman Emma Kari (green) got his suit second hand on Monday 5th December. She borrowed her evening dress from a clothing store and bought the shoes and bag second hand.
Congressman Saara Hyrkön The (green) suit, on the other hand, is made of material made from recycled plastic bottles.
