Krista Pärmäkoski withdraws from Taivalkoski’s Finnish Cup 2022

The athlete from Ikaali will miss Sunday’s Finnish Cup competition.

Krista Pärmäkoski announced on Saturday evening on social media that he is withdrawing from Taivalkoski’s Finnish Cup.

“Unfortunately, Sunday’s regular distance race will be missed. Preparation is being made for recovery and good preparation for the starting World Cup season. So the Ruka World Cup is next in a week,” Pärmäkoski wrote on Instagram.

The withdrawal can be considered surprising, because after the Taivalkoski sprint on Saturday, the athlete said that he was competing as a saint.

– Thinking about the World Cup, it would be harder if the race was on a tougher terrain. On the other hand, you will certainly gain speed on Sunday, so that is quite good, because there was a lot of SME training in Olos, the skier told Iltalehte.

On Sunday, North Ostrobothnia has a 10 kilometer free skiing intermediate start.

On Saturday, Pärmäkoski was the fastest in the time trial in the traditional sprint, but was eliminated from the continuation in the semi-final stage.

– Have practiced moderately. I left on Thursday via Rovaniemi to come here. Friday was the day of a couple of ski runs. I am by no means worried, said Pärmäkoski, who described himself as confident.

A week ago, he was second in the Olos cannonball competition in the traditional ten, and last Sunday he was fifth in the free ten. He won the skating competition by 31.5 seconds Victoria to Carl.

It was the first time in Pärmäkoski’s competition history that he fell outside the top three in the Artillery Championships.

– It wasn’t the best speed from Krista, but the speed will surely be found with the competitions, Iltalehti expert Reijo Jylhä commented a week ago.
