Kremlin not impressed: “Biden-in-Kiev show only serves to boost his electoral campaign” | War Ukraine and Russia

The Kremlin is not impressed by US President Joe Biden’s surprise visit to Ukraine. “The Biden-in-Kiev show” only serves to boost “Biden’s re-election campaign”, it sounds, among others, in Moscow.

Biden made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital Kiev today. He met Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, among others, and visited St. Michael’s Monastery with him under a blaring air raid alarm.

The Kremlin reacts disdainfully to the symbolically important visit. Konstantin Kosachev, the chairman of the upper house of parliament, speaks of the “Biden-in-Kiev show”. “People were plunged into a senseless massacre for the benefit of his re-election campaign. He never gave Kiev any other choice.”

“Which of them is Orthodox?”

Former President Dmitry Medvedev also spoke as chairman of the Russian Security Council. On Telegram, he said Biden has “sworn allegiance to death to the neo-Nazi regime.” The Russian propaganda machine has been talking about a ‘special operation’ since the beginning of the invasion, with the aim of “denazifying” Ukraine.

The spokeswoman for the State Department, on the other hand, criticized the visit of Biden and Zelensky to St. Michael’s Monastery. “Which of them is Orthodox?” Maria Zakharova posted on Telegram under a photo of the two at the monastery. Biden is Catholic, Zelensky Jewish.
