Barcelona (AP) – The German tennis doubles Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies won the title at the tournament in Barcelona. The duo won the final against Dutchman Wesley Koolhof and Briton Neal Skupski in the tie-break match 6:7 (3:7), 7:6 (7:5), 10:6. For Krawietz and Mies it was the first tournament victory since their comeback together at the beginning of the year.
Last season, the two Germans were unable to play together for more than half a year due to Mies’ knee injury. Krawietz instead formed a successful doubles with Romanian Horia Tecau. The two double French Open winners have been playing together again since the beginning of this year, but recently suffered numerous first-round defeats. Four weeks before the start of the French Open, Krawietz and Mies gained important self-confidence in Barcelona.
