Kraftklub and Tokio Hotel sing against German allotment conservativeness

In their new song “Fahr mit mir (4×4)”, Kraftklub and Tokio Hotel go on a musical road trip to escape German conservativeness and provincial folklore: “Asparagus fields pass by / If I leave, I won’t come back”. The goal of the trip: A place without national flags in the allotment garden and only the one rule, to lead one’s life in such a way that “Franz Joseph Wagner [Kolumnist bei der Bild] what would mind“.

The collaboration between the two bands, which were socialized in East Germany, is quite surprising. But it is even more surprising that Bill Kaulitz is singing in German for the first time in a long time. Most recently, Tokio Hotel only released English-language songs, such as the single “Bad Love” in February 2022. Now the exile from Magdeburg, who now lives in the USA, is singing in German again and even getting involved in German debates: “I’m sorry, something with a home office can’t be home for me,” it says on the joint song with Kraftklub. In Germany, CSU politician Horst Seehofer renamed the Ministry of the Interior to the “Federal Ministry of the Interior and Homeland” in 2018, which was criticized by many as a conservative PR move. Nevertheless, the new SPD Interior Minister Nancy Faeser left it with the controversial name when the government was formed in 2021.

“Fahr mit mir (4×4)” is a harbinger of the upcoming Kraftklub album “Cargo”which is scheduled for release on September 23, 2022 – five years after the band’s third and still current album No night for nobody“. In the meantime, singer Felix Brummer has published his extremely successful solo album under the name Kummer Kiox”, went on tour with it and then announced that he would end his solo career in favor of his main band, Kraftklub
