Kortrijk’s largest Christmas tree comes from… Kortrijk.
The tree is owned by Ann-Pascale Mommerency and Koen Van de Geuchte. But they wanted him gone for security reasons. It’s getting too high, they say. The couple is happy that their tree will not just disappear, but will first be on the market for a while. And that they ‘save’ another tree from the Ardennes.”
At 4 p.m., preparations for cutting down the Christmas tree in the Sperlekestraat started. The effective sawing of the tree will start around 5 p.m. Transport to the Grote Markt is provided around 21:00. There the tree is immediately placed in a tube. He will get 8,000 lights and 2,600 baubles. (continue reading below the photo)
Residents and visitors of the city can take a guess at how high the Christmas tree is via a QR code. The best gambler receives a Kortrijk Gift Voucher worth 100 euros.
