Kortrijk Zone 20 is expanding

It concerns the historic heart of the city, which will become a residential area in the spring of 2024. The speed limit will also apply on the banks of the Leie after the reconstruction. This is already the case with the existing lowered Leie banks. Signs show that this is a residential area. With such interventions, the city wants to increase the quality of life.

If you look at our current residential areas, for example on the Broeltorens, on the current lowered Leie banks, you see that it has become a very beautiful place. not the cars, the main users, but the people who sit there on terraces, who come to walk there and enjoy themselves. You choose residential areas if you want to put people at the center of the city. You make the city so much greener and more liveable. Everything is quieter, more tailored to the people than to the driver.”
