Kortrijk Spurs must leave the title to Lier

The play-off final went between Kortrijk Spurs, second after the regular competition, and surprise Guco Lier, who had only finished eighth. Kortrijk had the home advantage as the highest placed player, but things went wrong in the Lange Munte on Friday evening. Lier won 83-88.

So this afternoon the Spurs played with the knife to their throats, if they wanted to drag one more belle out of the fire. It was a real thriller in Lier, which led 70-69 with 20 seconds from the end. Kortrijk had a final attack, but neither Coucke nor Walasiak were able to score.

And so Guco Lier takes the title in top division one.
