The event takes place from May 28 to 31, during the Ascension weekend. The arrival of the Flame will have to wait until May 28, 2025. Then the National Games will start with a Torch Run, followed by an opening ceremony. Over the next three days, more than 3,400 athletes with intellectual disabilities will give the best of themselves in about 20 sports. They receive support from around 1,000 coaches and 2,000 volunteers per day.
“More than 10,000 fans and supporters will probably come along, so that will have a lot of impact not only for the sport, but also economically for the city,” explains Kortrijk’s Alderman for Sport, Wouter Allijns.
This time the athletes will be in action at Sports Campus Lange Munte, SC Wembley, SC Drie Hofsteden, SC Olympiadeplein and Swimming Pool LAGO Kortrijk Weide. G-sport is on the rise more than ever and so they expect a lot of people in Kortrijk.
