An asset of the new city link is the opportunity for Kortrijk students to get to know ChefChaouen and its residents through exchanges. Howest University of Applied Sciences is closely involved in the project by offering internships and research projects abroad.
“There will also be social-sports and cultural exchanges for vulnerable young people through, for example, youth welfare work Ajko,” says councilor Bert Herrewyn.
The city invests 20,000 euros annually to achieve the joint objectives. The Wereldhuis West Flanders (Province of West Flanders) contributes 15,000 euros of this through a subsidy. 7,500 euros goes to investments in actions in Chefchaouen, 12,500 euros is intended for actions in Kortrijk.
