In 1961 Kors and Klasina met in the Frisian Appelscha. Since then, they have never lost sight of each other. In 1962 the two married in Holwierde and are still happily together.
Klasina was a kindergarten teacher in Appelscha. Kors was staying with his sister Gerda, the vicar’s wife in Appelscha. Klasina was a member of the local choir and came to see Gerda to hear the St. Matthew Passion. Gerda had a good radio for that time. Shortly after this visit, Kors and Klasina started a relationship. Kors himself was still in secondary school and shortly afterwards became most in primary school. Kors came from Alphen aan de Rijn. Klasina comes from the Groningen village of Holwierde.
In 1962 the couple got married in Holwierde. The schoolchildren in Appelscha had made a large honorary hedge for the newlyweds. Shortly afterwards Kors was offered a job in Nunspeet, where they lived for a year in a spacious bungalow in the woods. Klasina stopped working after they got married, which was quite normal at the time.
Master house
In 1963 they left for Wilsum, a small village on the IJssel near Kampen. Kors worked as a master in this area for a while. Their first child, Jan, was born here. The second child, Maria, was born six months late. The family lived in a master house that was divided into two parts, in the other part lived the village policeman.
During the years she lived in Wilsum, Kors went on a moped to Zwolle, where he studied piano at the conservatory. He did this with great pleasure in addition to his job. In the end he did not finish this but still has a lot of passion for music and the piano. The family moved to Ommen in 1968, to a modern terraced house. In this house the family got their first television. In the five years that the family lived there, a completely new residential area was built around their house.
Wijnand was born in Ommen, the third child. Misook, the fourth child, was adopted from South Korea and joined the family at the age of nine months. At that time, Korea had ended the Korean War. After five years in the terraced house, the family moved into their first owner-occupied home. In the evenings Kors studied French. He eventually taught French, Dutch and Music at the Mavo in Ommen. During that period, Klasina set up the playgroup in Ommen. She enjoyed working there for many years. Because Kors continued his studies to become a first-degree teacher, the family had to move to Hoogeveen, because there were no schools in Ommen with a higher level than Mavo. Kors eventually taught French at Menso Alting College (MAC).
Relationship agency
At the time, Klasina was working as a consultant at a relationship agency. This was before the age of dating apps. Clients came to talk to the couple at home and Klasina linked people together, often successfully. In 1999 Kors took early retirement and is never bored. Since 2019 they have been living together in their apartment in Het Muldersheem on Het Haagje.
