Koolhof wins first doubles title at Wimbledon

Wesley Koolhof has won doubles at Wimbledon for the first time in his career.

The 34-year-old Dutchman and his British doubles partner Neal Skupski were too strong for the Spaniard Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos from Argentina: 6-4 6-4.

Koolhof and Skupski rarely got into trouble on Saturday. They had to clear a break point in the sixth game of the first set, but then broke their opponents in the next game, 4-3. It turned out to be enough for the win in the first set. Also in the second set, a single break in the fifth game was enough for the win.

For Koolhof it was his second title at a grand slam tournament. Last year he won the mixed doubles at Roland Garros with the Japanese Ena Shibahara. In doubles he lost the final of the US Open twice. The current number 2 in the world, a position he shares with Skupski, has not reached the final at the All England Lawn Tennis Club before.
