Kontron wants to take over US software specialist Bsquare

SEATTLE/LINZ (dpa-AFX) – The Austrian technology group Kontron wants to buy the US software specialist BSquare. Each outstanding common share will be offered $1.90, as both companies announced on Thursday night. The equity value of Bsquare corresponds to around 38 million dollars.

An agreement was concluded with some of the shareholders, together with American board members and senior executives, on the tender of around 17 percent of the securities in circulation. In the event of a successful takeover, the securities that were not initially tendered should also be acquired as part of a merger. Bsquare’s listing would then be discontinued. Kontron expects the transaction to be completed by the end of 2023.

In an initial reaction, Bsquare shares jumped by almost half to $1.81 in after-hours US trading
