Köllnitzer Hofküche – tapas from Brandenburg

By Claudia Lux

Autumn also has beautiful days. Then get out of Berlin, 45 minutes on the A113 to Storkow and immerse yourself in country life on the banks of Lake GroßSchauen.

At the Köllnitz Nature Estate it smells of forest, meadow and water. Smoked fish is also included. Something is missing: the happy cows, chickens and sheep that deliver what is served in the farm kitchen moo, cluck and bleat a village away.

First a walk on the nature trail, then into the cozy restaurant. We want to eat our way across the agriculture and fishing industries. This is possible with the three-course menu for sharing (from 2 people, 36 euros per person). 4 starters, 6 main courses, 3 desserts, all appetizingly presented in small bowls. Köllnitz tapas, so to speak.

We are most excited about pumpkin & carp ham, but it turns out to take some getting used to. Char in beetroot, boiled beef and field salad make up for it.

The highlight of all courses: the delicately braised ribs. They really taste like grass-fed beef (like the meatballs), the mashed potatoes (with crumbled egg yolk) like field, the eel (on carrot noodles) like fresh catch. Good cuisine, fair price! The desserts are almost too much.

Country relaxed. Back in the big city, the traffic jams don’t matter anymore…
