The US retailer Kohl’s Corporation and the cosmetics chain Sephora, which belongs to the French luxury goods group LVMH, announced on Friday the next stage of their partnership, which started last year. Accordingly, Sephora stores are to be opened in all Kohl’s branches in the medium term. According to the company, it currently has more than 1,100 locations.
Since the start of the collaboration, the project has made rapid progress: 200 “Sephora at Kohl’s” stores have already been set up in 2021, and around 400 more have been added so far this year. According to current plans, the number of locations is to be increased to 850 by 2023. Kohl’s estimates the annual revenue from the collaboration will grow to $2 billion by 2025.
The cooperation has already paid off for the retail group: Kohl’s has gained more than a million new customers since the partnership began, according to a statement. A “new, younger and more diverse” target group is addressed through the Sephora presence. “We couldn’t be happier with how our partnership with Sephora is progressing and the goals we have set are being met,” Kohl’s CEO Michelle Gass said in a statement. “Our success to date proves that this partnership works and the planned expansion is the next exciting chapter in our shared history.”
