Davis Cup player Dominik Koepfer was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Dallas. The 29-year-old lost to second-seeded American Tommy Paul 5:7, 3:6.
Koepfer traveled to Texas after his success in the Davis Cup in Hungary and confirmed his improving form over the past few months with two wins.
However, he missed his third ATP semifinal after the Mexican tournaments in Los Cabos 2023 and Acapulco 2021. In the first set, Koepfer gave up his serve three times, and in the second round, a break was enough for Paul to win the match.
Koepfer, who comes from Furtwangen in the Black Forest but has lived in the USA since his college days, had fallen far behind in the world rankings due to several injuries, but has now fought his way back to number 60.
Most recently, the left-hander also impressed in doubles. Together with Yannick Hanfmann he reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
