The story that takes place in Koedijk De Ronde about a possible closure of Buurtsuper Lidl has not yet been confirmed, but that does not make Maurice Boerman less comfortable. “The rumor that the last supermarket in Koedijk may close, goes like a running fire in the village. It is the last supermarket.”
According to him, the disappearance of it has a major impact on the entire neighborhood, but especially on the elderly and people who are less mobile. “They depend on this supermarket for their daily shopping, because alternatives such as De Mare shopping center and the Jumbo are simply too far away.”

Now the big question remains: is it also true? The municipality of Alkmaar says that the worries are not entirely unjustified, but that a closure is not yet certain.
“The Lidl in De Mare is currently receiving an extension. Lidl wants to put that store on the map. They will first monitor customer flow there,” is the statement. “At the moment Lidl does not know whether the location in Koedijk will close. At the end of the month they may know more.” Lidl’s head office has not yet responded to questions.
