The KNVB has offered the municipality of Zeist to temporarily accommodate refugees from Ukraine at the complex of the football association. The KNVB says it can receive 45 refugees for at least five weeks in one of the buildings on the KNVB Campus in the woods of Zeist. According to the association, the municipality responded positively to the offer.
The national football teams train on the KNVB Campus. In addition to various fields, the complex includes a hotel, a medical center, meeting rooms and a swimming pool. The KNVB rents out the swimming pool and a so-called seminar building to the KNZB swimming association. Those buildings are usually used by the national water polo teams, but the seminar building is now available for refugees.
The building has ten quadruple rooms, one triple room and one double room. Each room has a shower and toilet.
Every security region in the Netherlands has been tasked with arranging a thousand reception places for refugees from Ukraine in the short term. A thousand more places are to be added in the near future. In the province of Utrecht, which includes Zeist, there are currently almost 1,300 places available.
