Knokke-Heist school file: School council is considering going to court

This file is not about education at all, but about real estate, says Vandenbossche. In May last year, the municipality was condemned by the Careful Governance Committee for not complying with the participation decree.

The municipality had to consult with the schools, teachers and parents and did not do so. The municipality appealed, but it was rejected.

“We ask for compensation”

Vandenbossche: “We not only ask for confirmation of the decision taken, but also heavy financial compensation for the way in which the council of aldermen is acting here today. I would also like to say that if a decision were to be taken that transfers municipal education, we will turn to the ordinary courts to claim the nullity of that municipal decision.”

“Children Used as Change”

Vandenbossche hopes that it will not come to that, but does not give up: “The fact that these grounds are being realized for construction projects does not fundamentally bother us. But that the children are shamelessly used as spare change to realize this, that disturbs us greatly and that shamelessness is absolutely unacceptable. and we will continue to oppose that.”
