KNMI warns of slipperiness until Sunday morning

The KNMI warns for slippery roads and snow in the province of Drenthe until 9 a.m. on Sunday morning. The weather institute has called code yellow for the entire country. Initially, the warning would only apply to Saturday morning, but the KNMI has extended the warning.

It can be slippery due to freezing of wet road sections and winter precipitation, the KNMI warns. There is a chance of a winter shower throughout the north of the Netherlands. Rijkswaterstaat sprinkles preventively in various places and warns road users about poor visibility in the center and west of the country.

On Saturday morning, code yellow also applied throughout the country due to the slipperiness and dense fog. Yesterday was the first official local ice day of the winter, because according to the KNMI in Eelde it remained below zero degrees all day.
