KNMI warns of heavy gusts of wind: ‘It will be quite haunted’

The KNMI warns of strong gusts of wind that we will face this Wednesday. These are the forerunners for storm Dudley, which will ravage the Netherlands later in the day and Thursday. The weather institute has issued a code yellow for the whole of the Netherlands.

“It will be quite haunted on Wednesday evening and night,” said Johnny Willemsen of Weerplaza in the radio program ‘Wakker!’ on Omroep Brabant. “It was also quite windy early in the morning. It is also raining and it is quite mild. It was already 10 degrees in the morning and it will be 14 degrees in the afternoon. I think it will be mostly dry in the afternoon. “

At the end of the afternoon, according to Johnny, the chance of showers increases again. “The wind will pick up in the second half. It can then come to a storm along the Zeeland coast. Not in Brabant, but here you can suffer from heavy gusts of wind. During showers, those gusts of wind can reach ninety kilometers per hour, perhaps locally. 100 kilometers per hour. That is quite substantial for the interior.”

According to the weatherman from Weerplaza, it will also be turbulent on Thursday. “It will then feel a bit like storm Corry recently: storm on the coast, further strong gusts of wind. But I don’t think we will talk about this for very long in the long term. This may be the case on Friday at storm Eunice. It’s going to be a lot bigger.”

Johnny does not expect any storms or heavy gusts of wind in the weekend. “But it will remain quite windy. This also applies to Monday. Even then you have changeable weather, with regular rain but also sometimes sun at a temperature of 10 degrees. After that, calmer weather awaits us, with quite a bit of sun.”
