KNMI warns of very high temperatures in Limburg. The mercury will rise to 35 degrees in some places on Saturday afternoon. The KNMI has issued a code yellow and points out that the heat can cause health problems for the elderly and people in vulnerable health. People in other provinces can also suffer from the heat.
It is not so warm everywhere in the Netherlands. The differences in temperature are large on Saturday: in the northern coastal area it will only be 20 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday evening and in the night from Saturday to Sunday. The heat will be over on Sunday and a cloudy day with a few showers will follow, according to the KNMI.
The RIVM previously indicated that the air quality in Limburg, North Brabant and Gelderland will be bad on Saturday due to smog. The institute advised people who are sensitive to heavy physical exertion to limit or stay indoors.
The Longfonds also warned people with lung complaints to be careful because of the heat. “Try to do your outdoor activities as much as possible when the air is clean. Or stay indoors and avoid exertion,” the organization advised.
The festival organization behind Pinkpop in Landgraaf, Limburg, advises visitors to drink enough water. There are extra water taps on the festival site and people can bring their own drinking bottle.
Billie Eilish fans warned not to arrive too early
A warning is also sounded in Amsterdam to the fans of Billie Eilish. Ziggo Dome director Danny Damman advises them not to sit in front of the door too early because of the heat.
On Saturday evening, twenty-year-old Eilish will be on stage, but on Friday evening the first fans were already sitting in front of the entrance. Hundreds of people are now sitting in front of the door to get the best seat in the room.
The temperature in Amsterdam can rise considerably on Saturday afternoon. The Ziggo Dome advises fans not to come to the concert hall until the end of the afternoon or the beginning of the evening. On social media, fans are sharing photos and videos of their place in front of the door en masse.
