KNMI issues code yellow for part of the country due to thunderstorms | NOW

Thunderstorms move across the south, west and center of the country. The KNMI has issued a code yellow for these regions.

The weather alert applies to North Brabant, North Holland, Utrecht, Gelderland, Flevoland and Friesland. The warning will last until 7 p.m. The warning initially also applied to South Holland, but it was withdrawn at the end of the afternoon.

Locally there can be thunderstorms, hail and gusts of wind up to 75 kilometers per hour. Traffic and outdoor activities can be affected, the KNMI says.

Zeeland was hit by a whirlwind early in the afternoon on Monday. This caused one death, several injuries and a lot of damage in Zierikzee.
