The German tennis star Alexander Zverev keeps his fingers crossed for Jürgen Klopp and the traditional English football club Liverpool FC for the final of the Champions League on Saturday evening (9 p.m. / ZDF and DAZN) against Real Madrid.
“Neither of them are my teams, but if I had to choose now, I would choose Liverpool by an inch because I’m just such a huge Klopp fan,” said Zverev after reaching the round of 16 at the French Open at Eurosport.
For the Hamburger, the success of the Reds would be a well-deserved reward for an outstanding season. “They didn’t win the Premier League and I think they really deserved that this year. That’s why I’m just giving him the Champions League,” said Zverev. Liverpool are second in the championship race, just a point behind Manchester City, but have won the FA Cup and League Cup.
Zverev has tickets for the final at the Stade de France in Paris, but will only watch the game in front of the TV in the hotel. “I’m playing a Grand Slam here and will play the next day. That will go until midnight, that’s way too late,” said Zverev.
