Klopp doesn’t want to think about City just yet after beating Arsenal

London (dpa) – Despite the gap to the leaders of the table, which has melted to one point, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp does not want to deal with the top game against Manchester City in April.

“I know the only chance we have is to win an incredible amount of football games – because our opponent wins an incredible amount of football games,” said Klopp after Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win at Arsenal. “Over the past few years, we’ve pushed ourselves to crazy levels,” he said. But you are not currently fighting against Manchester City, “we will only play against City in three or four weeks”. The duel between the two top teams will take place on April 10th.

After 29 games each, there is just one point between Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and Liverpool. Third-placed Chelsea, who reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday, are now ten points behind Liverpool.

Diogo Jota (54th minute) and former Bundesliga professional Roberto Firmino (62nd) put the guests on course for success against Arsenal within a few minutes of the second half after goalkeeper Alisson Becker had initially prevented a deficit. For Liverpool it was the ninth success in a row in the league.

“Of course it gives you momentum, but momentum is the most fragile flower on the planet: someone just has to walk past you and step on it and it’s over and you have to work to get the momentum back,” said Klopp.
