Sergey Shadrin and Oksana Cherkashyna in the movie “Klondike”.

A mortar fired by mistake by the Russian separatists of Donbass tears apart the living room of Irka and Tolik, who are expecting a child. While a missile shoots down the Malaysia Airlines plane flying above that same sky.

In another context, the view that opens up in front of the torn house would be an example of beauty, but in eastern Ukraine in 2014 the stage was already being set for the fratricidal struggle which, today as then, sees friends, spouses, brothers on opposing fronts.

Life finally prevails over horror in the film passed to Sundance and Ukrainian Oscar nomination. But with great agony and an immeasurable price to pay.
