After an investigation, KLM has determined that some of its staff, including former employees, may have been exposed for decades to too much chromium-6, a type of metal that occurs in primers and coatings, among other things. It is not clear exactly how many employees are involved. The airline is negotiating a compensation scheme with the unions.
