Klingbeil ready to talk to asylum seekers during charitable work

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – SPD chairman Lars Klingbeil has shown himself willing to talk about the Union’s initiative to require asylum seekers to do community service during their procedure. “There are also these ideas in social democracy that people are thinking about the question of charitable work,” said Klingbeil on Wednesday on the Welt news channel. “I don’t want to make a final statement now, but these are things where we are ready to talk about exactly these questions.” Austria is already planning to require asylum seekers to do community service work. Anyone who evades this could then have their basic security reduced or lost. The CSU chairman Markus Söder has announced a corresponding program./lw/DP/zb
