Klimowicz is finally leaving VfB Stuttgart: a permanent move to loan club Atlético San Luis

In Mexico since January

Mateo Klimowicz, who is currently on loan to Mexico, is leaving VfB Stuttgart permanently in the new year. Loan club Atlético de San Luis has signed the 22-year-old Argentine. VfB announced this on Friday.

“Both Atlético San Luis and Mateo himself were keen to convert the loan into a permanent move. The relevant discussions quickly led to a result, so that Mateo’s transfer to San Luis has now been completed. We wish Mateo and Atlético San Luis a successful future together,” VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth is quoted as saying.

Klimowicz has been playing for the Mexican first division club since the beginning of this year and has played 36 games to date, scoring three goals and one assist. Its market value jumped in the last update: by 600,000 to 1.8 million euros. The former DFB junior and 2021 U21 European champion moved from his native Argentina to VfB in 2019, where he played 52 games (2 goals/4 assists). Before moving to Mexico, Klimowicz spent less than half a year on loan at Arminia Bielefeld in the 2nd Bundesliga.
