Klaver rushes to the World Cup final 400 meters in Dutch record

Lieke Klaver has underlined her form with a place in the final in the 400 meters in a Dutch record at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, America. The 23-year-old athlete from Enkhuizen ran in her heat from the semi-finals to second place in 50.18. That ranking gave her direct access to the final battle on Friday night (Dutch time).

Klaver also proved her form in the series by improving the Dutch record. She clocked 50.24 at the time, falling below the old record of 50.37, which Femke Bol set last year. In the semi-finals, she nibbled again. Fiordaliza Cofil from the Dominican Republic was just a bit faster in her race: 50.14.

Klaver also ran very well on Friday in the mixed 4×400 meter relay, in which she won silver with Bol, Liemarvin Bonevacia and Tony van Diepen. Her split time then was 49.32.
