Klaas Bosma (PVV) not to Provincial Council despite preferential votes

The Emmer PVV councilor Klaas Bosma has decided not to sit in Provincial Council. Bosma’s decision means that Bert Vorenkamp will retain his seat in the Drenthe Parliament.

Bosma was seventh on the PVV voting list for the Provincial Council, but received enough preference votes for a seat. He received 2084 votes, of which 1769 came from the municipality of Emmen.

“I had a consultation this morning and said that I have decided not to accept the seat,” says the Emmer-Compascuum party chairman. “It was completely my own decision and I think it was best for the party.”

Bosma says he cannot combine the seat in the Drenthe Parliament with his position as party chairman in the council of Emmen. “That’s where my heart is and my priority,” he says. “Moreover, it is a pity if Bert Vorenkamp’s years of knowledge and experience as a Member of Parliament were to be lost.”

The PVV lost a seat in the elections. Two seats remain. In addition to Vorenkamp, Nico Uppelschoten is in the States as party chairman of the party.
