Kjeld Nuis wins gold
It was Kjeld’s only chance to win a gold medal during these Games. He did not qualify for the 1000 meters this time. Four years ago in South Korea he did and won, just like in the 1500 meters.
First Games for Krol
The fact that Thomas Krol took silver is also an absolutely wonderful achievement, as this is the first time he has been allowed to go to the Games. In 2014 and 2018 he failed to qualify. He drove the 1500 meters in 1.43.55. He will compete in two more competitions: the 500 and the 1000 meters.
Just at the top of the medal mirror
The Netherlands now has seven medals: three times gold, three times silver and one time bronze. This put us at the head of the medal table for a while. Unfortunately, Sweden has now overtaken us.
