Kiter in distress rescued in Zeebrugge

Around 6:20 PM last night, the rescuers of the Voluntary Blankenberge Sea Rescue Service were urgently called to help the kiter in need. A resident of an apartment building on the dike had seen that the man was in trouble.

When the rescue boat arrived, the kiter had already managed to get himself to safety on the smooth blocks of the harbor wall. The rescuers threw him a lifebuoy and evacuated him. Afterwards he received the necessary care and was able to return home from Blankenberge.
