According to the police, the kite surfer was folded on the concrete of the dike while sailing. Emergency services pulled out en masse to the place. Among other things, a trauma helicopter, ambulances and the fire brigade arrived.
Victim rushed to hospital
A spokesperson for the fire brigade reports that a diving team was also alerted because of the accident, but it turned out not to be necessary. First aid was provided to the victim on the rocks of the dike. The kite surfer was then rushed to the hospital, saw a press photographer.
How exactly the accident could have happened is still unclear. On the IJmeer there is a moderate northeast wind, so that the kite surfer might be blown towards the dike and lost control there.
