Kitchen city of Ostend wins prize against food waste

The central kitchen of the city of Ostend managed to waste 40 percent less food compared to a year ago. This saves them almost 50,000 euros and they emit more than a hundred tons less CO2. They did this, among other things, by better tailoring the portions to the target group.

The central kitchen prepares 1,400 meals every day for the AZ Sint-Jan hospital and various nurseries, residential care centers and meeting centers.
