With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, KISS are one of the most successful rock bands. Now they will be on TV again. The two-part documentary “KISS – The hottest band in the world” will be broadcast for the very first time by ARTE on Friday 19 August at 21:55.
When and how did your success story begin? The two KISS founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons answer that in the documentary by DJ Viola. In order to be able to get to the bottom of the questions, the film is supported by exclusive private recordings, wild studio sessions and impressive live performances. Numerous musician friends of the band like Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine and Dave Grohl from Nirvana and the Foo Fighters also have their say.
The documentary is part of the “Summer of Passion”, an ARTE project that celebrates pop culture and its ups and downs over seven weekends from July 8th to August 21st. In addition to inspiration and musical driving forces, the station also shows pop culture “as an intoxication that can sometimes even have a self-destructive effect,” according to ARTE.
The program includes legends, scandals, success stories, dreams, struggles and the passion for music. In addition to KISS, Amy Winehouse, the Rolling Stones, Freddie Mercury and Prince will also be there.
“KISS – The hottest band in the world” will be broadcast on ARTE on August 19th. The first part of the documentary plays at 9:55 p.m., the second immediately afterwards at 11:20 p.m.
