On December 2nd, Kiss performed live for the very last time (or so they claim). With this concert in New York’s Madison Square Garden, the band also ushered in a new era and had hologram avatars play the encore. Gene Simmons now claimed in a conversation with a fan that a lot of money will flow into the Kiss avatars and that they will “get better”.
After the concert, Gene Simmons spoke to a fan about the avatars, which were reportedly made by George Lucas’ SFX company Industrial Light & Magic and in collaboration with Pophouse Entertainment Group. The conversation took place at Electric Lady Studios in New York, where the group met their fans after their final performance. The bassist said they “get even better, these animated things. There’s so much planning going on, it’s beyond my imagination. They give about 200 million [Dollar] to take it to the next level.”
What does Kiss plan to do with the avatars?
Per Sundin, CEO of Pophouse Entertainment, said this would allow Kiss to continue their legacy for “eternity,” according to APnews. “Kiss could do a concert in three cities on the same night on three different continents.” To bring their digital avatars to life, Kiss performed in motion capture suits. “What we have achieved has been amazing, but it is not enough. The band deserves to live on because the band is bigger than us,” said Paul Stanley in a roundtable interview. “It’s exciting for us to take the next step and immortalize Kiss.” “We can be forever young and forever iconic by going to places we’ve never dreamed of before,” added Gene Simmons added. “The technology will make Paul jump higher than he has ever done before.”
“Kiss were immortalized and reborn as avatars for eternal rock,” the band wrote on Instagram alongside some photos showing the creation of the avatars. See the post here:
