King celebrates next birthday in Emmen

King Willem-Alexander and his family will celebrate King’s Day next year in Emmen. The municipality of the city in Drenthe announced this on Friday. The party was last celebrated in Drenthe 21 years ago. The program of King’s Day in Emmen on April 27 is not yet known.

In 2002, the then Queen Beatrix celebrated in Hoogeveen and Meppel. This year, Rotterdam hosted the king’s birthday. The royal party then went with a procession of water taxis across the Maas and the king played football with youth. Máxima wore a scarf from Feyenoord. Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb showed the family around.

Besides Drenthe, the provinces of Zeeland, Flevoland and Friesland have not yet been visited by the king on his birthday.
