Kim Mestdagh marries Italian teammate

Kim Mestdagh, 32, was born in Ypres, but has traveled all over the world to play basketball. She has already played in Turkey, Spain and in the United States, where she became champion in the prestigious WNBA competition in 2019 together with fellow townsman Emma Meesseman. She was also a key player in the success of the women’s national team that finished fourth at the World Cup and stranded in the quarter-finals at the last Olympics.

Afterwards, Kim Mestdagh, like her father Philip Mestdagh, left the Belgian Cats, in which sister Hanne is still active. Since the same year, she has been playing for the Italian top team Schio from the north of the country. Last season the couple won the national title side by side and now the duo can celebrate again. They have been together for eight years. Just like Mestdagh, Giorgia Sottana also represented her country in a basket jersey and accumulated no less than 140 international caps.
