Former top gymnast Kim Bui wants to join the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes Commission next year.
As the German Olympic Sports Confederation announced, the DOSB Presidium and the DOSB Athletes Commission nominated the 34-year-old Bui for the 2024 election. The long-time athlete spokeswoman for the German Gymnastics Federation would replace Olympic fencing champion Britta Heidemann (40) at the IOC, who is in the will step down from the committee next year after eight years in office.
The IOC Athletes Commission serves as a link between the athletes and the IOC. It currently consists of 23 members, twelve of whom are elected by the Olympic participants. In addition to Heidemann’s position, three others will be filled at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
