Killed motorist on A59 was probably thrown from his car

The motorist who died on Saturday night in an accident on the A59 near Raamsdonk was probably thrown from his car and ended up on the highway. That is the situation that the police are now taking into account. The driver crashed his car into the guardrail and died at the scene of the accident. According to a spokesperson, the investigation into the circumstances of the accident, in which three more cars were involved, is still in full swing.

The deceased motorist (30) from Driebruggen in South Holland hit the guardrail, then shot back onto the highway and may have also rolled over. The police announced this on Monday.

The police have now spoken to several people who drove on the A59 near Raamsdonk that night.

Witness statements quickly revealed that the victim’s heavily damaged car was in the middle of the highway. Witnesses also indicated that the man was lying next to the car. The police were previously unable to say how that had happened.

A driver following behind was barely able to avoid the car on the highway on Saturday night. He crashed his car into the guardrail and started to skid. Two other drivers then crashed into this car. A woman sitting in one of the cars was injured. She was taken to hospital.

After the accident, the road was strewn with debris and was closed for hours.
