Killed driver (69) was presumably unwell for fatal accident, four occupants still in hospital | Veluwe

Two cars collided with each other around 10.10 am on Harderwijkweg in the village in the municipality of Rheden, north of Arnhem. One of the drivers was killed. He probably became unwell before the accident, causing him to collide with an oncoming car.

Five occupants were injured, some suffered serious injuries. Several emergency services were called after the collision, including two trauma helicopters.

The injured were taken to various hospitals in the area. Four of them are still in hospital a day after the fatal accident. Police are not aware of the seriousness of their injuries.

The Harderwijkerweg was closed in both directions for some time on Saturday for a police investigation.
