Kiev withdraws bill on transitional period in Donbass

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has withdrawn the draft law on the transitional period in Donbas, submitted earlier to the Verkhovna Rada, for revision, taking into account the negotiations in the Normandy format, informed Chairman of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“The bill is not very consistent with our Normandy format, so I asked them to take it back for revision. Perhaps there will be some “Norman meetings” and there will be certain agreements that will need to be implemented in the form of bills. That is, it was a premature bill, which is why it was withdrawn,” the deputy explained.

Zelensky said that Kiev is working on de-escalation of the situation in Donbass

The draft law on the fundamentals of the state policy of the transitional period in question, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved August 4th. “The document fundamentally proposes to enshrine at the level of law the definition of the Russian Federation as an aggressor state and an occupying state,” the press service of the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Occupied Territories said in a statement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov previously stated that the adoption of this law in Ukraine would mean Kiev’s withdrawal from the Minsk Package of Measures. The Minister noted that France and Germany had previously stated that they would not allow the adoption of this law, but no action was taken on their part.
