Kiev rejects Russian ultimatum to surrender in Mariupol | War Ukraine and Russia

The Russian Defense Ministry had given Kiev until 5 a.m. on Monday morning (3 a.m. in Belgium; ed.) to have its “fighters” lay down their arms in the besieged city of Mariupol. In an eight-page letter, Moscow had said that in that case, the “Ukrainian nationalists” would have the opportunity to leave Mariupol unarmed through humanitarian corridors between 10 a.m. and noon (between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. in Belgium).

But the Ukrainians do not intend to comply with that demand. “Just open a corridor instead of wasting your time on an eight-page letter,” Vereshchuk quoted herself from her reply to the opponents.
