FC Bayern spent a lot of money to sign Sacha Boey from Galatasaray. Previously, a transfer from Kieran Trippier fell through. Now the Englishman has commented on the failed deal and the interest of Munich.
Kieran Trippier doesn’t want to mourn the missed opportunity to wear the FC Bayern jersey in the future.
“There is no place I would rather be,” he told BBC Radio Newcastle about his employer. The right-back has a contract with Newcastle United until 2025. “There has been a lot of speculation about me recently, but I am committed to the club, as always. 100 percent, just as I have done since I first signed,” added Trippier.
The interest of the German record champions is no longer an issue for the 33-year-old. “It’s over,” said Trippier, who emphasized: “I’m committed to the club. They’ve done a lot for me and I want to give something back.”
Trippier sees FC Bayern’s interest as a “compliment”
He remained “calm” during negotiations between FC Bayern and Newcastle United about a possible winter transfer. “I’m old enough now and have already experienced a lot,” said Trippier. “At my age, I can do it [das Interesse der Bayern, Anm. d. Red.] just take it as a compliment. I’m here now and I want to give everything for Newcastle.”
As an experienced player, he is now able to “block out all the noise.” FC Bayern were reportedly prepared to pay 15 million euros for the defender, but Newcastle refused.
Instead of Kieran Trippier and Nordi Mukiele from PSG, who were also traded, FC Bayern finally signed Sacha Boey from Turkish club Galatasaray. The Munich team made the second winter transfer official on Saturday.
The German record champions dug deep into their pockets for Boey: According to the Istanbul team, Bayern Munich will pay 30 million euros as a fixed sum, and five million euros may also be due as bonus payments. He signed a contract with FC Bayern until 2028.
