Kiel sets an exclamation mark at PSG

THW Kiel has made a big statement in the Champions League. Coach Filip Jicha’s team won 34:28 (13:14) against French handball champions Paris St. Germain. With their first win in Paris since 2014, the German record champions once again took the lead in Group A.

The THW initially put themselves in trouble in the French capital with three time penalties within the opening quarter of an hour, but still stayed in the game thanks to goals from Harald Reinkind, with seven goals together with Elias Ellefsen, a Skipagötu top scorer on the Kiel side.

Four minutes after the break, national player Rune Dahmke rewarded Kiel for their strong defensive performance by taking the lead again to 17:16. However, a petty whistled time penalty against Patrick Wiencek immediately robbed the Kiel team of momentum. In the thrilling final phase, substitute goalkeeper Samir Bellahcene held on to Kiel’s victory.
