Austrian Natascha Kampusch was 10 years old when Wolfgang Priklopil imprisoned her in the dungeon of her home in March 1998. The full-grown Natascha escaped 8.5 years later in August 2006.

Priklopil was talking on the phone when Natascha, dressed in a summer dress, noticed that the garden gate of the man’s home had been left open. The young woman took the opportunity and ran out of it. He couldn’t know if Priklopil would follow and the kidnapper would catch him.

Natascha shouted for help in Strasshof’s residential area and approached the first person she encountered. He refused to help.

– He was rude. The woman thought I was a drug user. He refused to call the police.

Natascha hoped that Wolfgang Prilopil would have been found before he could commit suicide. Over

Natascha didn’t have time to hang around with the woman, so she continued her journey. Natascha came to the attention of the authorities when a worried elderly person reported that a young woman was moving around in his yard. The police arrived, but at first they didn’t believe Natasha.

– They thought I was crazy, who only claimed to be Natascha because I wanted attention.

However, after making a couple of phone calls, the situation began to open up to the police as well.
